Technical Assistance Advisors

Florence, United States

Reports to: Executive Leadership

FLSA Status: Exempt

Salary: The staff position is $60-100k if full-time, guided by our equitable compensation structure. The contractor positions require negotiation. The higher pay bands require 6-10 years of experience in closely related work; the position is open however, in the lower range, to people with as little as 3 years of experience.

Location: Most work is virtual with little travel anticipated.

Seeking:

  • 1 staff
  • a small team of part-time contractors. Prospective consultants should, at this preliminary point, send a simple short paragraph of interest along with basic vitae, to which those appearing most qualified and befitting will receive further information.

We are looking to build a small, talented team to provide creative, thorough, and strategic technical assistance in areas we don't currently possess to help our members build capacity and develop community owned solar projects that are poised for financing. Local partners will hopefully have a starting base of community engagement and education, as well as state enabling legislation; however, some assistance in these foundational areas may be needed by us (aided also by our legal support). Most focus however is on guiding the many puzzle pieces related to local needs assessment and project development (site selection, engineering, etc. - including financial packaging for loans that PSEF itself can provide or broker).

To meet growing national demand - efficiently and affordably - we are looking increasingly to: a) facilitate peer support and learning among our members (with some compensation for those playing lead roles); and to, b) ramp up online, asynchronous learning - i.e. on-demand curriculum, videos, webinars, and other training materials, most of which is still in development.

Therefore, a critical factor for candidates is being not merely a good trainer but a good facilitator to connect groups, along with having an active interest in organizing, designing and packaging the delivery of information. Candidates should however also possess good people skills and demonstrated competence at engaging comfortably with diverse constituencies and particularly with grassroots BIPOC communities - as well as being smart, energetic, well-organized and strategic.

PSEF is an equal opportunity employer that values strong representation of people who are commonly underrepresented in nonprofit leadership and who resemble and relate closely to the demographic and lived experience of the communities we most seek to represent. We strongly encourage applications from people of color, persons with disabilities, members of the LGBTQ community, people with a lived experience of poverty/ racism and people from underrepresented and historically marginalized groups. The work entails extensive reading and writing (some research, much planning, extensive correspondence…), active computer usage and common software (spreadsheets, etc), and clear verbal communication in English.

To apply, please click "Apply Now" and fill out the application form, attach your resume and a brief preliminary inquiry letter. Anyone of interest to us will receive an invitation for further followup within 2-3 weeks of receipt.

Thank you! (And please help spread the word.)
